Casting Call, Short Film : Montreal

This is the last call for the January 17th casting call, for the short film, The Aztec. We are holding auditions for two roles on that date and will be shooting all day on January 25th, both in Montreal. The actors will each be payed a 50 dollar fee for their one day of work.

The two characters for whom we are auditioning are Mr. Block and Mr. Doyle.

Mr. Block, is a man at the top of society`s hierarchy. His affluence and arrogance are seen in his dress, mid-atlantic speech, and posture. He constantly folds his hands behind his back and smokes cigars. He is the antagonist and the villain in the film, and it is his job to keep order in society.

Mr. Doyle, is weak and toady. He is constantly seen hunched over, and sucking-up to his boss, and the film`s villain, Mr. Block. He is, in a way, Mr. Block`s stoic sidekick.

The Aztec is a short, mostly silent film that tells the story of a boy who mistakenly finds a magical key, and with it, is able to travel both backwards and forwards in time. The man whom it rightfully belongs to, an oligarch, relentlessly pursues him through his travels, until he and the boy eventually meet at the films end. The soundtrack for the film, Debussy`s La Mer, second movement, creates both a sentimental and surreal mood and it plays throughout the film.
