Job Posting: TAPthirst Coordinator

Pay Rate: $14/hr for 15 hours per week
Work Period: January to April 2012 (possibility of extension with funding)

Description of TAPthirst:
TAPthirst (tap drinkers against privatization) is a QPIRG Concordia working group dedicated to promoting awareness of the environmental, health and socioeconomic costs of the privatization of public water and the packaged water industry. We are also committed to promoting awareness on wider issues of water privatization. At Concordia we have been instrumental in creating a shift towards a bottled water free campus. We work with Sustainable Concordia, the Concordia Student Union, the Polaris Institute and various community groups

Responsibilities:
Finances / Funding (expected: 7 ½ hours / week)
- research best options for continual funding for both projects and salaries
- take necessary steps to make TAPthirst a non-profit organization or a registered charity (if seen as best option)
- write up funding applications
- follow through with the applications and help create an action plan for what to do with received funds
- look after day-to-day finances
- oversee the writing of required funding reports

Campaign Coordination (expected: 7 ½ hours / week)
- schedule meetings
- plan and execute events
- ensure smooth communication within group
- receive and respond to emails
- contribute to growth and development of TAPthirst`s campaigns
- report to group about hours worked


Skills / Competences:
Familiar with and able to work in a non-hierarchical consensus-based organization
Excellence in written and spoken English, strong communication skills. French is an asset
Experience with environmental issues, activism and campaigning
Experience with grant writing and fundraising
Knowledge of TAPthirst`s mandate and current water issues at Concordia University
Experience with group facilitation
